How not to look "ricey"

IMO, it's too many cars out there look ricey. It's too easy to lower the car and put chrome 18's with 35 series on a car plus coffee can muffler tips and huge wings. (this is why I hate chrome wheels). In fact, almost every Honda I see here are slammed low with chrome wheels and the whole rice work..sickening. Chromes are nice for certain cars but I think that it actually cheapens the look on most cars now (can you say "tacky"). I think our G's are classier than that. My challenge is to make the car modified but in an OEM kinda way. Kinda like the BMW M3 or the Audi S4 or even the SAAB Viggen, definitely looked tuned but not in a cheesy way. The P10 and P11 to me looks more European than most European cars. To make it rice does not work. Leave that to the Honda boys.

My first step for my 2002 G20 is look for some rims that don't look rice.
I am set on OZ wheels but not the style. I am leaning more toward the OZ Opera in 17 inch. What do you guys think this will look on the P11?

Here is the OZ site:

hey those look nice....i think anything will look nice, as long as its not chrome ....... i totally agree with you when you say it cheapins the look of the car......rarely, do chorme rims enhance the car isntead of taking away from it. Anyways, yea man, go for those rims!

Thumbs down WHATEVER YAW!

Yeah it cheapens the look a lot. That's why you see movie stars and music stars all riding with chrome. They like to buy those expensive cars and cheapen the appearance by putting chrome on. Yet alone they
most of um probably come with chrome! Come on now. If it is chrome
daytons or something that is different. You don't see it all depends on the rim. If I saw some racing harts in chrome that shit would be tight.
Letz be real now?.........:smoka:

Not dissing any ones taste, im just giving my opinions. yah, chrome used to be cool like the early 1990's when no one really had chrome. Now everyone has chrome. In fact, I just saw a Maxima today with 20 inch dubs, I mean chrome wheels (Niche, Alba? brand). Looks funny.
Whats even funnier are the SUV riding on 22 inch rims. Hello!

Gotta be careful what rims to buy, most are made in Taiwan and are not up to OEM specs as far as strength and quality. Some brands out there sound Italian or Japanese where they are not (ex, Koenig, Primax, Zenetti, Katana, etc). These are all cheaply made one piece rims.
The only wheels worth considering in my opinons are BBS, OZ, Enkei, Racing Harts, 5 Zigen, MiM, SSR's. That's why they cost more.

www.wheelchoice.com sells quality all Japanese wheels imported from japan.

I took a look and those operas would look nice. If you want to go with a no-rice look (Which is Very good ) then be sure not to be excessive, using some brand names parts may avoid some of that. I think that cars like the G20, VWs, and Acuras can be made to be fast by what's under the hood, not what's on the outside, that's if your lookng for performance rather than looks. I'd also say Body Kit but don't go overboard, That's just my Two Cents.

In my opinion, i am being real. Personally, i dont think that just because movie stars and music peps use something makes it any better. I guess some people like to go with the crowd.....
Most really nice cars that i know of dont come with chrome. Most have an option of getting chrome. I think the sleekest look are the huge lorinsers D- 93 or Lowenhart BS-5........anyways, this is just my personal opinion that i know is right and ithink a lot of other people agree with me. Your car dude, so do whatever you think looks the best to you!

listen up my g's ..
application is the key to proper innovation..
in other words yes chrome rims do look nice and dont look ricey for example i was in iceland on vacation with my girlfriend last year and my cousin lives there has a ac.. nsx 96 with niche pulltec chrome 9 wide in rear 8 wide in front deep dish all chrome chrome lip chrome 3 peice rim now without a doubt i tried to hate it cuz everyone has chrome rims and its the norm now in days mommy with their minivans even got 20 inch rims now in days but his was honestly very nice he got a silver paint job with a laminated look alot of clear coats applied in fact too many clear coats for my blood but it looked untouchable very nice
p.s. what could i evn say to him when he asked what i thought about his car i couldnt even say them rims are too damn heavy what he got under the hood can easily push them things around his little town ..
i'm babbling now but my point is its all about application never get a rim because some other car has em and it looks nice remember whats nice on something else may look tacky on your ride .

about dubs....
i just moved to fl from nj/ny and i dont know if its a down south thing but i hear the word dubs all the time i went to the dub show this year with my modeling crew and we all know its also a magazine and i understand alot of the cars there were big ballas car like the rap stars with money and rock stars and such so they can afford those cars wich can easily take 20 inch rims but i dont understand where this dub term comes from i havent watched tv in the past 2 years so maybe its a new term on the streets or on tv i dont know i dont know any music since the past two years except for

BIG PUN,BJORK and RADIOHEAD so i pretty much dont know much about whats going on this world (and i smile in peace)

as far as rims i like the L-SPortline linup for mostly the mercedes and lexus gs300 and 400 models the only prob is they only sell them in 19 inch minimum and the only rim finish i like in the world is magnesium look but i only found one rim style from the l-sportlines that had the magnesium finish its like a gunmetal look but not dark black like the gunmetal i would like 19 inch rims 9 wide in back 18 x8 in front but our little cars cant take that yet but understand this i would never put that on our stock g20's only on the ser 20 det turbo one with maybe a upgraded turbo stge 2 kit and then it would be perfect i'll be there just give me some time and money and communication with luke overseas

another rim i like but not too much is the ones on the is 300 17 inch lex wheels but another rim manifacturer makes the same i think its quantum and also focal makes em too but i dont like the attitude in the 5 star it would nicer that same rim with flat 5 star i would love it
speaking of rims does anyone know the lug pattern for the lex is 300 stock rim
and also does anyone know of any other magnesium rims i could take a look at

ok let me stop for now before this thing dont even work and delete my post

p.s. haha i couldnt stop please somebody say something so i at least know someone read my crazy long boring post .if you have something bad to say why bother saying it your no bigger man then i am for saying big words on the internet
i'm out
casual

badass rims

HRE makes some real badass 3 piece rims. They make them for super high end cars like Feraris, Porsches, NSX. How does $1,000 per rims sounds like? www.hrewheels.com

the term dub probably came from the term duv(don't know the "proper" speeling)......duv is $20 worth of weed. Not that I buy weed...

Arrow 2nd of all

The fact that you think chrome makes a car look ricey....You got your
termonology all wrong. Ricey is all the stupid sticker with the high pitched exhaust. Along with the little ricey accessories. Chrome don't
have a damn thing ta do with being ricey.

Ricey- to look as if you did too much; went to far, degraded the natural
appearance of the automobile; looking like a go cart.
Might have to edit the thread!!!!!!
