my 2000 grand prix gt is cutting out on me. what it is doing is any time im driving does not matter what speed the engine just cuts out for mabey 2 seconds as if i just turned the key off at the same time my low oil, low trac, and change oil soon lights come on for 2-3 seconds then the car is fine till it does it again ( no ses lights or codes )sometimes it will do it couple times one right after the other as if it was bucking then be fine. i was told the crank position sensor could be the problem so i replaced that tonight, drove home and it still is doing the same thing!!!
if anyone has any other ideas please let me know. can't afford to keep paying the dealer to tell me they think they got it.thanks

Re: 2000 grand prix gt cuts out
Welcome to AF.
Check the 12 volts at the battery and alternator output. You may be losing the 12 volts to the IGN MAIN 1 and 2 circuits. You can get the battery and alternator tested for free at places like Autozone. Check the grounding and battery connections too. The other possbility is you may have a bad contact in the ignition switch and harness assembly. Also, it would not hurt to test fuel pressure at the fuel injector rail fuel pressure regulator Schrader valve to see if it is in specs.

Re: 2000 grand prix gt cuts out
ill pull the alternator tommorow and get it tested. what started this whole thing was the car stalled on me and did not restart ( just cranked ) none of this happened prior.. so i had it towed to the auto dealer they told me it started for them and ran all day no problems. so they installed a new ignition module and said there was a spliced wire to the transmission and it was starting off in 3rd gear ( bull ) when i got the car back thats when this problem started.
