Target shooting with those guns is obviously different. If that is all you want it for get a shotgun. IMO it is much more fun trying to hit and object moving through the air.

Normally I would say the Ruger BUT power is a good thing, but I mean it's no rocket launcher either. If it's like the one Bruce Campbell has in army of darkness, go for it, that gun rocked!! (at the end of the movie)

It depends on what you're going to use it for. My Dad owns a shotgun and he says it's for "home-defense". I've never fired a M-14 before but it does look badass.
