"Brake" Light On Dashboard
Hi All
I've got a 99 Accord Coupe with V6. Recently on my morning commute to work, the "brake" light on the dashboard is lit up. My park-brake is not applied and the brake fluid level is just below the "max" fill line on the resevoir. It seems to act up during colder weather and goes away once the car is warmed up. Any ideas of what could be causing this? |

Re: "Brake" Light On Dashboard
Add a smidgen of brake fluid (a little over the line)

Re: "Brake" Light On Dashboard
Thanks for the replies...I found out what the problem was.
There is a plunger under the brake fluid cap that floats at the fluid level. If it gets too low, it causes the dash panel brake light to come on. Well, my fluid level was good, but what had happened was that the plunger got stuck in a low position...it probably happened some time when I opened the resevoir. I opened it and manually moved the plunger around. Just taking it off and putting back on may do the trick too. |

Re: "Brake" Light On Dashboard
typically this is the float and filter as mentioned. over time, brake fluid gets dirty and jams up that filter.
to remedy: flush all brake fluid, replace with new float and filter. new float and filter can be had for about 10 bucks at the dealership. |
