1993 S-10 Blazer Thermostat Replacement?

Hello, I Have 1993 S-10 Blazer. The Temperature Reading Was Always At 200 Degrees, But Just Started Reading 150 Degrees Now. Still Heats, But Not As Warm As Before. Is This The Thermostat? I Know This Thermostat Has Between 40,000 And 50,000 Miles On It. When Replacing It, Do I Have To Take The Whole Shroud Off, Or Can I Get At It By Just Taking Off The Air Intake? Are There Any Tricks To Replacing It? Thanks For Any Info!!

Re: 1993 S-10 Blazer Thermostat Replacement?

Did it. It was easy. Intake off, and removed bracket from belt tensioner and was easy to get at. I noticed there was a 190 temp in there which had been put in by the dealer when I purchased it. The OEM equipment calls for 195. That is what I put in it now. My gas mileage went up now too. I was driving it for 2 years with a slowly failing thermostat. Like I said it always was running at 200 degrees when I got it, and then after 2 years it went up to 210. Now it is back at 200 and doesn't move.
