1998 avenger hard to start.

I am thinking about buying a 1998 avenger for my daughter. It has a problem starting especially after sitting overnight. It may take up to 25 times to get it started. Once it is started it is fine as long as it doesn't sit for a couple of hrs.

Re: 1998 avenger hard to start.

Same problem I'm having. Mine is intermittent. Used to happen about every once every 3-6 months. It's happened 3 times in the last two weeks. I know that I'm overdue for a tune up. Once it starts up it runs good after it warms up.

Re: 1998 avenger hard to start.

i'm glad you posted this....I have a 99 dodge avenger es and my car does not like to start once it sits sometimes overnight. I bought the car back in Jan and so I had a new battery put in it. It started up fine but then another 3 months would go by and it would do the same thing. After putting in the 2nd battery it did it again

I had my alternator and starter both checked and everything checked out fine. I don't understand why it won't start sometimes. Could mine just be that I have a bad battery harnest...or the wiring or what?
