cold air intake rusty

i have a cold air intake on my car. i went to clean the air filter so i had to take it apart. i see that the inside of it is rusty. not flacky rust, but surface rust that will rub off some. my question is, will that mess up anything inside? that cant be good right? i have a code coming up p0411. secondary air injection malfunction (incorrect flow). could that intake have something to do with this? and if anyone can help me out on fixing that, please let me know. im going crazy. i posted and while back and got no reply. thanks

Re: cold air intake rusty

Not sure on the code. But as far as your cia goes, I would suggest scrubbing the inside of it down with a peice of steel wool and then maybe spray painting the inside to prevent rust. The rust wont hurt the motor any, but could mess with the maf I think.
