ok Ready to hit the swap
During this winter, I am wonting to do a motor swap. i have a 92 eclipse that has a 1.8 motor in it now. I wont to put a 4g63 motor in. I got the cherry picker looking for a 6 bolt 4g63 motor an got the tools. What else would I need? Would i have to swap the wireing harness? What about the computers? Would i have to swap them to? An is there anything that i am going to need for it to be done?
Thanks |

Re: ok Ready to hit the swap
I don't know a/b too much... but yeah, you'll need the wiring harness and computer from the 4g63... also are you swapping in the turbo motor or the N/T...
I can't recall for certain, but I think you're gonna need new axles

Re: ok Ready to hit the swap
New tranny as well.
And I don't know if the motor mounts from the 1.8 will line up wit the 4g63. So you may need to do some welding.

Re: ok Ready to hit the swap
Parts off the 1.8 wont work on the 4g63 either so I would make sure you have all your sensors and what not.

Re: ok Ready to hit the swap
if you have to ask... and are focusing on "cherry picker" and "tools", asking if you change wire harness for a compleatly different motor, as well as a computer swap... i think one more thing you should do before you start this project is to put it in a shop...
motor swaps are rather advanced, and even more tedious(s/p) with transmission swaps, shifter cables are different (IIRC), master/slave clutch cylinder different, the clutch its self! the list is practically endless ... from what i can tell from you questions, not being rude or anything so sorry if this offends you, but i dont think it would be a good idea for you to do this on your own... just trying to help! if you insist on doing it, i'm not going to talk you out of it, or flam on you and call you out on it, but i just think you should know that this isnt just a pull/replace/plug in/drive project... if you do decide to do it... PICS are a MUST for indepth help. thanks
