E36 Compact OBC

I have a 2000 316i Compact with the two button clock and want to change it our for the two button OBC so I check consumption etc.

Is it impossible or what can I check to see if some of the wiring loom has been included but not used? Does it take feeds from the back of the instrument cluster in which case I can check to see if I have an unused plug?

I saw an OBC on German eBay which had the small link wire included in addition to replacement stalks but is there much more involved in the compact kit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
