MLS vs Copper head gasket
Okay I'm ordering the parts for my head and I want to know if I should go with an mls head gasket or go with the copper(titan) headgasket. This head will be seeing about 24-26 pounds of boost btw. Heres the site I planned on ordering it from http://www.ffwdconnection.com/headgaskets.shtml . Let me know what you think... thanks.

Re: MLS vs Copper head gasket
I vote MLS headgasket just out of personal preference.

Re: MLS vs Copper head gasket
Do you think the mls will support that amount of boost though?

Re: MLS vs Copper head gasket
IDK much about HGs, but wouldn't the MLS hold up better? How is it a pain? Isn't multilayered stuff better than a single layer anything?

Re: MLS vs Copper head gasket
Well, in my experience, they dont seal as well. My MLS one had somewhat shitty compression, like 130 across and it took some running to get that high. Once I got the composite one it was right up to 145 all the way. And yes, I did have a straight head. I dont know, my rebuild wont get anything but a OEM composite one. I would rather blown a head gasket or two and keep fixing them than monkey fuck around with another metal one.

Re: MLS vs Copper head gasket
Hmm, I'm not sure now damnit lol. The site says the copper gasket held up to 43psi and if I got it it would never see that much boost so I know I would be okay. All I want is a good headgasket that will seal good and hold a max of under 30psi. I think I'll probably just end up going with the Titan copper headgasket.

Re: MLS vs Copper head gasket
I have an evo3 MLS. that is what the race shop put on my motor when it was being built. So I'm assuming that it can handle some power.

Re: MLS vs Copper head gasket
I looked around and I found a cometic mls headgasket on slowboyracing that says excellent for motors running under 30 pounds of boost lol. ("hold a max of under 30psi") So anyway it is only something like 95 bucks so I am ordering that hg. I will post up as soon as I get the rest of my parts and get it on my car.

Re: MLS vs Copper head gasket
I am running the 4 layer mls HG and i am pushing coolant at high boost
, you need a special surface on your head and block for the ls, now all the reading i have done on the copper titan one, you just throw it on, that HG has orings built into it for each chamber as u can see, so that is the HG i am putting on in the spring. I did alot of homework on that titan HG
