Question Squeling & Grinding type noise

I've got a 2000 Denali and I just recently had this problem come up.

It sounds like a squeling and grinding type noise when I'm driving now. At first it was just when going in reverse...so I had the back u-joints replaced and the serpentine belt as well.

But now its like all the time when I'm driving forward or reverse. I was told at les schwabb that I only have 30% life on my brakes.

Could it be that I just need new brakes? or just the pads and rotors? or wheel bearings?

I just dropped about 2k in repairs on this...any help would be great! Do you think that having the guys at les schwab drive it and take a look...do you think they will be able to pinpoint the problem??

Re: Squeling & Grinding type noise

While wheels are cool check the rotors for grooves. Also can jack up and turn by hand see if any noise comes from wheel. There is also the feeler on brake pads to let you know when you need pads. Check to see if it is riding on rotor...

Squealing and grinding are associated with movement of belts or wheels. Most of the time, sqealing is the brake wear indicator and tyhe grinding is when you have ignored the squealing for topo long. When is the last time you had your brakes checked or replaced?

I agree with them. I think its probably the pad feelers. Just remeber brakes are just about the MOST important part or your truck.
