buying a new civic. what to do with the crx?

there's a strong sentimental bond between me and my crx, but now that i'm buying a brand new civic, and since i'm single and live alone, there may not be much i can really do with it.

so i'm considering selling it. i doubt the dealer can give me what it may be worth as a trade-in... but then again, what's it really worth?

for the most part, it's got a few very small areas of rust on the nose of the hood, and the edges of the wheel wells. it leaks when it rains. it could use new paint. it's got the side skirts of an old crappy buddy club kit still on the doors (cause the previous owner screwed it strait to the door. i couldn't remove it without having holes in my door).

driver's seat isn't bolted down properly. the area where the left rear bolt goes is a hole rusted through one layer of the metal. you don't see the ground, but you can't bolt the seat down there. the front left bolt's head broke off a long time ago and i never had the time to tap and re-thread it. the right rear bolt on the passenger's seat is rusted through as well. the seats themselves are actually leather integra seats. i had to use parts from the integra seats and my old crx seats to make them fit. (i did it the hard way.)

carpet's coming up around the edges in all areas, basically. i'm no good at making it stop coming out after i tuck it in.

the convenience box is missing. the front door of the hatchback's separator was replace with a sheet of plywood.... genius. i didn't do it. don't blame me.

no mods to the engine. (someone took out the stock air filter and replaced it with HALF of a cheap ass cold air intake. he couldn't get the right size, so he cut the aluminum pipe in half and shoved half into the plastic pipe coming from the air intake. again, genius. it works, though...

the climate control unit is shot to hell, but still "works" if you know how one works to begin with. i'll have to post pictures. it's too sad to describe

the good news? the engine runs like a charm. the 17 year old starter still works fine. and the following were replaced by me during the last 3 years.

alternator
timing belt (mechanic did it)
fuel pump
main relay
standard stuff like plugs, wires, cap, rotor, headlights, wipers, oil, manual tranny oil, etc
distributor (got a used one off ebay)
windshield (it's 2 months old and already has a large crack starting... i'm pissed)

279k miles on it.

i'll throw some pictures up once i get motivated... and maybe throw an ad in the paper or something. i doubt i can get more than $1500 if i'm lucky with it in this shape, though.

Re: buying a new civic. what to do with the crx?

crx's are a dying breed man. Provided the frame is all in sound shape that doesn't sound like such a bad car to me. Unlike other cars these things are worth quite a bit even if they look like shit..look online you don't see many $1000 crx's...definately don't let the dealer steal it from you
