2002 ranger with a 4.0 liter engine i get a code of p0171 & p0174 that is both banks lean anyone have any ideas as to what to look for ?

Had the same codes come up in my 1999 Ford Ranger 4.0L. The code has something to do with the fuel/air ratio. Suspects are: O2 sensor/heater or the Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF). You have two O2 sensors, one on each bank. You may check the inside of your MAF to make sure the "hot wire" is not dirty. If it is you can clean it with any electronic cleaner. Good luck. Don |
