Gotian and Musashi will battle for your pleasure.

Yes thats right. Musashi and Gotian will have a battle to the death on Sunday November 5th.
The location is a Air Force base as I understand from what Gotian told me.
The battle ground is an AutoX course.

See, me and Gotian have an issue about power over handling.
he thinks the RX-8 will out gun my GTO at the autoX
I say no matter how much speed he can carry through the corner I will power away after every turn.

so who do you think will win?

Consider also this will be the first time I drive the GTO on such a course and the first time for Gotian in the RX-8 as well.

Re: Gotian and Musashi will battle for your pleasure.

Personally I think the GTO will take it. The way I see it (just from seeing the numbers in magazines), the RX-8 won't be able to overcome the GTO to the point where it will beat the goat overall. The GTO has inferior handling, but not enough to the point where the RX-8 will overtake the goat.

GTO. No way I can vote against a fellow GM'er.

the RX-8 is great for handling. while the GTO has more power auto-x courses are typically short. so i give the edge the the 8

I give the edge to the GTO. We are talking inexperienced drivers and its less likely that anyone will push the cars to their max around a corner. The GTO handles great and is no slouch and seriously outguns the 8 in power. I would be surprised to hear otherwise to be honest.

Re: Gotian and Musashi will battle for your pleasure.

Hmm, this is interesting. It depends on how the course is layed out, I can honestly see both winnining on different types of courses, but for now ill have to go against my mazda brother and go with the GTO.

Re: Gotian and Musashi will battle for your pleasure.

If it's a tightly layed out course, the Rx-8 may win just due to it being lighter on it's feet.

But, I'd assume that if the course has some decent space designed into it, with ample straights and sweeping turns. The GTO may be favored, just cause it can properly put down it's power for longer periods making up for any shortcourse troubles it may have.

The GTO will have trouble in the lower gears around tight corners. Unless you're real smooth on the throttle, I'd say keep TCS on.

Re: Gotian and Musashi will battle for your pleasure.

Looking at the combined results from the SCCA Nationals this year where we can almost take the driver out of the equation:

Fastest GTO: 108.209 seconds
Fastest RX8: 102.396 seconds

Definetely the RX8

Re: Gotian and Musashi will battle for your pleasure.

i say gto because the car is blue...wait, the rx is blue too...hmmmm....

seriously i think the gto will win it. gotian posted that he was having a bit of trouble after taking the stability control off the car if i recall. sounds like he's still learning the car. mush, seems like he beats on his gto, as he was determined to take the corner the srt crashed into a tree on...

Re: Gotian and Musashi will battle for your pleasure.

I'm leaning towards the GTO, but thats just me. I see it like an argument I had with my buddy about Ducati vs a 'Busa around a track. The Ducati, with equal riders, would be able to go faster through the turns, but the Busa is fast enough to walk it down and put enough lengths on it in straights to give it mass breathing room. But then again, thats around a real track, not an AutoX course. I really dunno, I mean, the GTO can handle, it puts down times similar to the STi/STI on the Top Gear course, but the RX-8 is hella nimble.

Oh, and if you were doing this for my pleasure, Mush would be dressed as a burley bear, and Gotian would be wearing a whip cream bikini with Cherri's over his nipples, while holding a bottle in his right hand and a poodle in the other.

Re: Gotian and Musashi will battle for your pleasure.

Barring the whole driver equation, it really depends on the course.

Some of you guys are speaking about it like it's VIR or something. It's an autocross, there aren't that many straights, and the Goat is a heavy car, it won't make transitions well. The 8 isn't exactly a flyweight either but at least it doesn't weigh 3800 lbs.

Now if Musashi had a Vette.......
