yoshimura hayabusa
hi guys,
i've completed the yoshimura hayabusa. first of all, this is the first street bike for many(can't remember exact how many) years since i made vfr 500 when i was a small boy but the vfr is really ugly looking as i didn't have any modeling knowledge & i don't even know how to handle a that kind of decal back then. now since i've build lots of bike since 2004 when i stop building gundams, this is the first street bike i can say that i've made. here are the pics in different angles. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() firstly i can say that it's a good looking street bike without any doubt but the masking is really terrible & i have been struggling getting them in place as i kept on getting the 'bumps' here & there. i find the decal is a real nightmare for the lining. i broke the the right side of the right fairing lining twice while the left side of the tail three times. at least i manage to cover up the damage on it. for the side fairings i placed the putty to cover up the lines. then i spray ts-49 on the fairings. in the first coating, i still could spot the putty evidence on it. so, i wait for it to dry & coat it again with the same colour. somehow, i got dimples on the left side of the fairings as i've forgotten to wipe the possible dust on the surface before i went for the second coating. at least the putty spot is gone after the second coating.now, i've started making repsol honda '06 dani pedrosa's version & i'll be making a new thread when i finish the engine. adrian |

Re: yoshimura hayabusa
Nice looking bike, i like the two tone paint. For masking, i tend to use tooth picks to get to hard to reach areas, also some outdoor shots of the bike would really set it off.

Re: yoshimura hayabusa
Must have missed this completed post Ace. I keep asking med when you find the time to finish all your bikes.
There seem to have been some problems with the masking. Pretty massive bleed through from the black onto the red areas. Tip regarding tooth picks to push the masking tape down is pretty good. Unfortunately any raise in the tape will let the paint through. Regarding the putty shining through is the same as with your Valencia M1, you have to keep on putting primer on to that bike until you have an even surface. Especially with red, blue and yellow livery colors as they are more or less translucent. If you are using a grey putty like the Tamiya kind you can go over the body parts with a grey primer first to cover it up and then use white primer on top of the grey to get a lighter base for the red. There are no shortcuts on that matter. Nice to see a street bike in your never ending streem of kits :-) The yoshimura Hayabusa is a stunner. /Joel

Re: yoshimura hayabusa
Looks good. I feel you on the masking though, I cant stand it. The results are usually worth it but its just so agravating!
