got som new pencils(Derwent artists series)
1 thing lead 2 another and this happened now keep in mind it was 5:30am on no sleep. and I am tryin to work sans pen. its hard tho. Color isnt a stong point 4 me either.

Hi GirlBear, are these pencils a water base type pencil? It looks like you have some blending going on down at the bottom of the page. The only thing with doing a car in colored pencil is to work from light to dark. Apply light layers and work over them till you get to where you want to be. By applying one heavy layer you lose the depth of the color. By the way, not a bad sketch from memory.

Thanx 4 the info. I usually go dark then use paint to do lights. Never actually works the way I'd like it too. But what u said makes sense. Um and the mixing, like I said it was hard to use only pencils. So i cheated with some paint and some pens. Its just instinct. Im gonna practice with the colored pencils. But I have a feeling Im gonna be sticking to ink and regular#2's .

That's a good effort for a very late night/early morning practice with a new (to you) media. Keep working on those pencils!
