1978 camaro tranny crossmember

I do not have a crossmember at all with this car and am getting ready to drop engine and tranny in. I am wondering if anyone knows where I can get a crossmember for either a 700r4 or a 2004r. Not sure which tranny i am getting yet. Been looking at summit racing but not finding or either i am overlooking the obvious.. thanks in advance.

If you can cut and weld you can build your own,it will give you more room for your exhaust while your at it.I did for my 79 maliboo once. The rough design is like this.Looking from straight at it.

-____0____0____-
The little tabs at the ends are for bolting to frame, the 0's are for the exhaust to go through, that way they closer to the floor, more groung clearence.I hope you get the idea.Just some square tube ,some round pipe, and a welder.

I dont have a welder myself but I agree with you that should be a simple design. Ill have to talk to the shop and see if they want to make the piece if I cant find one. I had an 89RS that I put a thm350 in it and the parts seemed to be more widely available to that conversion.
