Has anyone the ABS light NOT come on

This will make probibly, the 4th time the system stopped working. I have to take the car in for the PS recall., but I shure as hell am not paying for the ABS to be fixed again out of warranty. I've never found ABS to be worth a damn anyhow. As far as winter driving goes....don't slam on the brakes!!

What model year do you have? mine is 97 malibu and I had same problem with ABS light keep came on unless I restart the car. I have replaced ABS sensor but same problem keep happening and finally fixed it when dealer re-write the ECM for new ABS programming.

Mine is a 98, my coworker has a 2000 and my other co-worker has a 98 with the same problem. I guess its a Malibu problem.

Sue2 this is a 2 year old thread, I will answer this but in the future start a new thread, thanks. Nothing happens here except you have no abs, which should be scanned with an abs function scanner for a proper diagnosis and repair, in a timely manner for safety concerns.

Re: Has anyone the ABS light NOT come on

Same problem on my '01. There was a break in the ABS wiring harness from the passenger front sensor to the wiring block on the left fender. Nasty price.
If the ABS system fails, it must return to "standard" braking. That's the law. Small consolation if it isn't just a wiring problem and you plow into something really solid. I'd get it fixed.
When my ABS went out, I discovered the system on my car wasn't proportioned properly and medium/hard stops were, well, interesting. Once the ABS was back up; the tail of the car stayed in line on hard stops.
