02 Pathy Specialized Tool

Does anyone know the tool name/part# for removing the wheel bearing nut on a 2002 pathfinder front wheel?

It is a metal ring with two post holes on opposite side that are about 2" distance apart. Someone used the term spanner socket when i described it to the local tool wiz, but he wasn't sure... I am changing out my rotors/pads and would prefer not to pay the nearly $300 that Brakes Plus is asking and that is just to replace the pads and turn the rotors!

If anyone has experience or knowledge to solve my little dilemma, that would be great.

A pin spanner is adjustable and will work, but what you are referring to is a bearing locknut socket. On my 97 the OTC7698 tool fits, but I have no idea what would fit a 2002. Some people buy the standard ones from the auto parts store, and grind off extra tabs and bend the others to make it fit.

Here's a link that shows the OTC tool: http://www.handsontools.com/store/li...roduct_number=

Re: 02 Pathy Specialized Tool

Thanks for the info. I think the honda/isuzu one might work, however, it is square peg going in round hole.... not sure of the span either. going to try calling the dealer again and see if they can find it.

Thanks again!

Here's a picture I took of the OTC tool a while back to show the dimensions: http://groups.msn.com/LewisPictures/...oto&PhotoID=21
