Dyno Day! Stock Dyno

went to the dyno yesterday. It was a DynoPack Chassis dyno. I got some suprising numbers, alot higher than i had hoped for. It was colder out too, about 47F.

yeah

236.5 WHP and 190 ft/lbs TQ

and the test didnt even hit the rev limiter, kinda bugged me. Prolly could of gone a bit higher.

Re: Dyno Day! Stock Dyno

nice numbers have any mods? I know that the redlines and cobalts are underrated and actually have about 220-225whp. Reason why he didnt go to the rev limiter is because they usually stop when the power begines to drop off.

Re: Dyno Day! Stock Dyno

power wasnt droping off in that dyno, kept going. Look at how steep the curve is when it cuts off.

Also the car is 100% stock, nothing done to it.

Re: Dyno Day! Stock Dyno

LOL, and SRT-4 owners are complaining about the bogus results of ones keeping up with their cars. Looks like GM underrated the Cobalt SS considerably. Still those are the highest numbers i've seen for a stock Cobalt SS (So another one dyno around 220+whp). Looks like you got a runner.

Track times would help to signal what power your car is making down the track.

Re: Dyno Day! Stock Dyno

Also keep in mind that this is a DynaPack, which shows the highest numbers of any dyno.

Nevertheless, very nice numbers Jayson

Jayson go to a dynojet, thats where you'll most likely make the 220 that the cobalts make. But as I said before those are nice numbers, at least you can say I have 230whp and show off the sheet.

I was asking because the chart says flywheel on the torque side.

Re: Dyno Day! Stock Dyno

GM is pretty notorious for underrating their vehicles.

Surely you guys haven't forgotten the 98-02 LS1 305 hp Z28/TA, 320 hp SS/WS6, and 345 hp C5s that all magically made around 300 at the wheels have ya?????

They even do it in trucks. 5.3L Silverado/Sierra dynos around 240-250 at the wheels, same thing that 5.7L Hemi Rams dyno. Thing is, the Hemi is rated at 40 hp or so more then a 5.3.

Re: Dyno Day! Stock Dyno

GM makes a good motor, it's too bad the car it's bolted in is crap.

Even the C6 Z06, with all it's exotic build materials, has questionable interior materials. I still love it though... a thing of beauty.
