Homelink and OnStar

I think I asked this a while back but has anyone installed a Homlink in their Lumina? I have a 1999. Factory part Numbers, harnesses and such. Is it plug and pay? Same questions for an Onstar.

I have a moonroof so there is a switch for that. I went to Ebay to a guy that sells the Homelink Units and asked if he has one for a 1999 Lumina.

Thanks!

Corndog.

Re: Homelink and OnStar

With OnStar, these units have to be installed at the factory. From what I understand, it interfaces with so much stuff (sensors, relays, etc), including the vehicle's computer, that I don't see how an aftermarket installation would work properly.

Visiting the OnStar page, they say that they do not sell an aftermarket kit that can be installed; it can only be done when new vehicles.

Thanks Jay,

I read that as well. I figured if I was to install one, it would be from a junked Lumina and get all of the cables, connectores and hardware. It's [robably not worth the effort to get it out.

I may be able to put in a homelink. Does anyone know what to use? I have seen some of the small ones on Ebay that you can mount into your visors if you have power. Does anyone have a pic or part number for Homelink on a 1999 LTZ?

I also did research on getting a factory CD unit with XM. Apparently from everyone I speak to, you can go after market but not factory.

Thanks!

One more question about Homelink. If you have a 1997 and above and have Homelink in your car, would you mind putting a photo up. Is it in the roof or in the visor. If in the visor do you have a lighted visor on the passenger side.

I was looking for something like this

Thanks!
