Reset computer?

OK, I have a `94 Jetta III GLS. I was told I need a new distributor, and the computer would need to be reset once it's been changed out.

How do you reset the computer?

Re: Reset computer?

I'm not sure about jetta's but on my old camry all you had to do was un plug the battery for about 20 min. and the computer reset it's self. Try that first. It couldn't hurt and it just might save you $. Hope that helps

Re: Reset computer?

I have a 95 jetta that needed a new distributor. ever since the old distributor came out the check engine light has been on. With a "new" used distrubutor the car runs fine but the light's still on. I've been trying to get it off for months now. Let me know if anything works for you. I'll try the battery thing.
