SS vs Charger R/T

first actual race ive had in the cobalt since i have gotten it, around 2,000 miles on it now, so should be broken in decently well.

So i pull up to a light to see a pretty blue charger R/T sitting there, i pulled up farther than him, and i noticed he pulled up more to match with me. Figured hed want to go. Light turned green he took of hard, not WOT, so i went hard, then at about the same time we went WOT. Peeled through first and made a nice shift into second barking the tires. Took 2nd up to 60MPH or so and shut down with a dead even race. I think i pulled just a hair on him, but not sure, it was a very close race. I was really impressed with the cobalt, i looked up the stats on those, and they run 14.2@102 MPH is what C&D got on it, with a 0-60MPH in 5.2 seconds.

Re: SS vs Charger R/T

not sure really, could have gone either way, but i might give it to him since his trap is about 3-4 MPH faster

Re: SS vs Charger R/T

The Charger R/T doesn't run a 5.2 sec. 0-60 time. I believe you are thinking of the SRT-8 model. The base R/T model runs a 5.8 sec. 0-60 time. In any event, good run. They're just a tad bit faster then your car, nipping the 1/4 mile at 14.1 sec. from what the rags have reported.

Re: SS vs Charger R/T

It's all about torque man. You have a smaller engine but you have a SUPERCHARGER so you probably make more torque than the POS N/A engine.

If you add torque enhacning performance mods (like an exhaust and CAI specifically designed to enhance torque over horsepower) you will probably murder him!

Charger R/T: 340hp, 390ft-lbs 4031lbs
Cobalt SS/SC: 205hp, 200ft-lbs 2991lbs

I suggest you learn your facts.

And even though the SS/SC is a bit underrated, it still makes less than the Charger R/T. It has a 1000lb weight advantage, that helps it keep up stock for stock.

Re: SS vs Charger R/T

car and driver ran a 14.4@100MPH with the SS supercharged, so going by those numbers, the only real advantage the R/T had over me was RWD, but we didnt launch anyways.

2 tenths of a second doesn't sound like much, but in real world performance it is more then a car length. Besides those R/T's are autos, which makes them a cinch to launch.

Re: SS vs Charger R/T

yeah but magazine racing is for bitches...

who cares what C&D or Road and Track says your car can do, its all about what YOU can do with it... If you can't drive for shit, C&D won't help you out on the drag strip, sorry, it doesn't work that way...

according to "magazines" gtps are the fastest 15 second cars on the road!(i'll give you a hint, if you can drive, you won't be near 15 seconds, not even if your gtp is stock)

magazine racing is for ricers...
