Brake line wont bleed? *Urgent*

Well..I just replaced the brakes on my moms car as they were going bad. I have ran into a snag though. :/ I went to go bleed the breaks, and no fluid will come out of the fluid nipple, yet there is resistance on the break peddal? I was sitting there trying to bleed it for a good 30 minutes, with the car on and off, yet still nothing. It might be a clogged brake line, but I am hopping not. Is there anything else that I can try? Or does anyone have any advice?

The car is a 1989 ford taurus by the way.

Re: Brake line wont bleed? *Urgent*

Have you replaced the master cylinder or made any freeplay adjustment?

Bleed the master cylinder first by loosening both lines and have someone depress the brake pedal. It is important that you wait a few seconds while the peddle is all the way up before pushing down again. If your master cylinder pumps fluid, it will bleed your calipers and cylinders.

Bleeder screws do get plugged. Remove the bleeder screw completely and inspect. Use small drill bits to clear the holes by hand.

Rubber hoses can swell shut internally. If your hoses are swollen at the hose crimp fitting or weather checked, replace them.

Steel lines can be crushed closed.

Proportioning valves that are controlled by ride hieght will restrict fluid if the vehicle is raised and supported by the body.

How exactly are you trying to bleed the brakes? There is more than one way to get them bled.

Did you replace front or rear brakes? Drum or disc?
