I fixed my turbo problem...just one last kink to figure out!!!!

Alright well if any of you have read some of my previous posts/threads, I have mentioned about how my car is so incredibly slow. At first I thought boost leak...none. Then I thought maybe something to do with the wastegate and maybe its preload...I added 2 washers, made the tiniest of improvement. So then i thought that maybe the wastegate was opening the flapper prematurely, so I popped the hood and revved up the engine and it seemed as though the wastegate was opening up the flapper too early and was letting out all of the exhaust gases, so in return my turbo never fully spooled.

So i decided to disconnect the hose coming off the wastegate just to see if this was the problem....and hell it was. When I took the car for its first testdrive, that baby just hauled so much ass. OFCOURSE I paid attention to my boost gauge and I hit around 23 psi. I only hit it for like a split second so hopefully it didnt cause any damage...lol.

OK, so my question for you all is where in the hell do I hook the vacuum line for the wastegate too? When I bought the car it was hooked directly up to the j-pipe.

PS: Also the car has a boost control solenoid, but it was not hooked up to anything when I bought it. (Dont know if this helps/hurts any)

PS2: It looks like the previous owner had a MBC...just because I can see a t-splice in the blow-off valve line. I believe he must have had a MBC just because of this t-splice and the reason as to why the BCS is not hooked up. What do you all think about that?

So where do I hook the hose that runs off of the wastegate too?

Thanks!! Man this makes me so happy.

(I can post pics if neccessary!)

Re: I fixed my turbo problem...just one last kink to figure out!!!!

The T splice was probably to a boost gauge. If it was the mbc why take that off I dunno?
Anyways you can hook the wastegate up to any pressure source. If you can tap it your good to go. I would probably get a MBC just so your boost is in your own hands.
Edit I kjnow I'll get yelled at if I don't mention this; the closer the pressure source the better.

Ok so where would be an ideal location fo rme to tap the wastegate vacuum line into? Also, What do I do with the nipple on the j-pipe? Should I put a plug on it?

About the t-splice...I bought the car with a boost gauge already on it. The boost gauge is tapped into a line AFTER the throttle body...not to sure on which lines.

You see I have tried that already. I have automotive technology classes at my classes and I went on ALLDATA and printed out a vacuum diagram for the BCS and I hooked it up and it made no difference. The car runs like it is not even there. Also, I DO NOT have a CEL at all.

Where do you guys have your wastegate hose hooked up to? And what should I do with the nipple on the j-pipe?

FACTORY SPEC? haha the only thing factory spec is good for is factory SLOW> 355smallblock eh, sounds like another domestic afraid of an import making high boost.
get an mbc plug the inlet to your mbc to the nipple on the jpipe and the outlet of the mbc to your wastegate.
ANd then throw out that BCS lol cause you'll never want it hooked up again

Alright, well is there a temporary fix until then? Is there any place that I can hook the line too until I get the MBC?

Also how come when I do install the factory BCS, how come it doesnt do crap at all. The car doesnt even act like it is on at all.

EDIT> What are some good websites to buy a MBC from? Like Joe-p...what else is their,,,relativly cheap too.

Re: I fixed my turbo problem...just one last kink to figure out!!!!

Yea you can just hook the wastegate straight up to the j pipe but you will be making really high boost so just be careful.
And I'm not sure what you mean on the second one, like you make no boost at all?

Thats the thing. When I bought the car, the wastegate was hooked straight up to the j-pipe, and my boost gauage read 10psi, but the wastegate opens up its flapper, therefore letting out all the exhaust gasses, so I dont spool, therefore I get no where.

Blackcrow, post up some diagrams please, I would like to see if mine differ.

Also, How does the factory BCS hook up? I cant really tell from my diagram.

THANKS!
