head unit problem!

Hey guys, i know this isn't the right forum to post this in but most of you guys are pretty familiar with the wiring of our 4th gens. i used to have a pioneer premier 670mp head unit in my car but i got my face plate stolen so now i'm putting in a new jvc kd-g320 head unit. i am still using the aftermarket wiring harness adapter thing that connects to the stock wiring harness to use an aftermarket cd player. anyway, i wired all of my wires up correctly and accordingly and whenever i put a cd into the head unit it loads it and then quickly shuts off. and then i can eject the cd and then once it's ejected, the head unit shuts off right away. i can't control any part of the head unit and i also noticed that it is getting a constant 12v+ even when the ignition is off and when the accessory is off. i don't know what to do! could it be a blown fuse somewhere or something?

i have a red wire coming off of the wiring harness and it says "ignition switch" on it and i connected that to the red "switched 12v+" wire of the head unit. i also have a yellow wire coming off of the wiring harness that says "constant 12v+" and i connected that wire to the yellow wire coming out of the head unit that says "constant 12v+". my ground wire from the head unit is connected to the ground wire from the wiring harness.

everything worked fine with my pioneer when i had it in. and now it won't work right.

Holy crap! It's Vlad! What's up? Sucks that your faceplate got stolen. Why somebody would just steal a faceplate is beyond any normal rationality. It's pretty strange that your new JVC keeps cutting out like that. Are you sure that the ground wire is secure? Did you try resetting the head unit?

Does the radio part of it work? Sounds like a security feature.

Re: head unit problem!

haha, what's up keith! yea, it's been a while since i last posted here. my car is coming along pretty well and looks nothing like what it does in my profile banner image, haha. but anyway... last night i just left everything the way it was and this morning i woke up and re-checked all of my fuses and i noticed that my cigarette lighter relay fuse was blown. so i replaced it and now my head unit works! it's really weird as to what had happened though beforehand with the headunit getting constant 12v+ even with the keys were out of the ignition. now it gets the power when the keys are switched to accessory or when the car is on only. weird, but it works!

Re: head unit problem!

I believe the cigarette lighter relay is the same fuse for the constant 12 volts to the stereo (like most cars) so that was probably the cause of the problem.

My crx is going bye bye. I got a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4... yes I'm a redneck... LOL

Re: head unit problem!

Yeah my faceplate got stolen too, boggled my mind as to why.. they even tried to pull the console up over the shifter and get at the head from the backside (the damn thing comes right out the front with two buttons on either side). I just blew my fuse for no apparent reason today, looks like its gonna be a clicky creaky squeaky loud ride to work :P

What sucks is the 3 guages on my pillar mount are dead too.
