I replaced my S-belt over the weekend and the idler pulley seems a little loose (my engine makes some weird noised at startup and this may be the issue). So could someone with a +98 undo their S-belt (no need to take it all the off) and then grab onto the upper left pulley and see if you and pull it in and out?

Mine had a little bit of a wiggle when I did this.

Mine has a little bit of play in it, not much. Maybe 1/16"-1/8" but turns smooth and doesnt make any noise when I spin it.

cool. That is what mine does too.

I wonder if my water pump is what is making the noise ....

I'm planning on popping the hood and listening closely tomorrow morning (I bet the sound is gone if I do try this ....).
