99 Civic EX...turbo recommendation?

I have a manual 99 Civic Ex stock, I am going to put exhuast on it along with some other somewhat minor performance mods, but I really want to put a turbo kit on it as my previous car was an 87 Supra Turbo and I miss the punch and sound of it. What turbo kit should I get and how much psi can I safely push on the stock B16Y8 while maintaining most of its daily drivability. Any suggestions at all would be much appreciated, especially from the experts that monitor this place . -dustin

The old standby is the GReddy turbo kit for 92-95 Civics. The usual suggested limit on a stock d16 is about 6-7psi (5.5psi is the default on GReddys kit). However, some have pushed it to 10psi, but proper tuning is key. Other options you have? APEXi makes a nice ball bearing kit, but expect to pay at least 500 dollars more for it. DRAG also makes kits for d16's, but the turbos are bigger and may have more lag than the GReddy (smallest of the 3 options here). DRAG kits are pretty complete, giving you more fuel upgrades than either of the above kits, so you can expect to pay around 3000 for the DRAG.

There are others, F-max Ive heard of makes kits, or you can make a custom setup using an old Eclipse turbo (gt25) and custom piping, etc.

I've got the Greddy 15G kit and I'm happy with it, but the Apex'I kit looks awesome. I've got a friend that spent around 4k for EVERYTHING and he loves it. He's also able to run 12psi. I think he's went all the way to 14psi, but he has the fuel mods to back him up. Check out this post he did:

It shows a pic of his install. The Apex'I kit is the cleanest of them all (I think). It's also a bigger turbo than the Greddy, but I think it's smaller than the Turbonetics units supplied in DRAG or FMAX. Don't really know much about Rev Hard kits.
