Carolina and their backs...
Being an Air Force brat, I never had a place to really call home. Since I've settled in the Carolina's during and after college, I've adopted The Panter's as my team. (gotta stay local ya' know?)
I have yet to see an incredible full-back on the team. Steven Davis was the closest before injuries. He'd occasionally have sparks of brilliance but his specialty was pounding up the middle and getting those solid 3-4 yards. Now that he's done and gone there's DeShaun Foster. Like Hershal Walker of the Cowboys...he's an average back with the ability to occasionally be above average. Is DeAngelo Williams our answer or maybe Shelton? I don't know... But we still have Smith and Johnson receiving...that counts for much!!!!!!! |

Re: Carolina and their backs...
0-2...How I wish we had the O-Line of Dallas during the early/mid 90's!
Oh and a good back...DeAngelo is showing great promise though... |

Re: Carolina and their backs...
Foster is a good back that can be great. If we had a O-line then you would see that. Or if Smith was back then D's wouldn't stack against the run. Williams on the other hand can be great with the O-line that is there and he proved it the other night. Either way it is a great 1-2 punch.

Re: Carolina and their backs...
I was looking at Foster's stats last year. 95.5yrs average per game. That's outstanding and I believe in the top 10 backs in the leauge. The reason why I'm not a huge fan of his is because when he first joined our team, he had many, many fumbles and several games with minus yards.
But I agree about the O-Line...these guys have got to come together. They also need to go to Johnson a little more vs Carter. Carter a great up and commer but he's not at the level Johnson is...but he's got the ability to get there. I'm liking what I see from Colbert. He needs a little seasoning as well and then he reminds me of Michael Irving without all the trash talk and a few injuries. On the topic of Colbert... A boy at my church was without his dad for a while and he would hang out with us men from church on Sundays as we watched ball games etc. He's 8 and needed some male role models, so we spent time with him. One guy somehow met Kerry Colbert and told him this boy's story. Kerry took the football that he caught during that game against the Bucaneer's his rookie year to win the game, had guys on the team sign in (Jake, Minter, Rucker, Peppers, Smith, Davis, Fox etc) and gave the ball to him. I thought that was very cool. We all chipped in and had the ball inclosed in a glass display case for him. He's now a Kerry Colbert fan, as am I. |
