99 Taurus door open light?

my 99 taurus 'door open' light on the dash is always on, showing all 5 doors open. when i open close all the doors nothing changes. also when the doors open the lights on the inside of the car dont turn on. any ideas?

This is fairly common among Taurii. Search the threads for this and you'll find a lot of responses to this. I sprayed wd-40 into the locks in all four doors and opened and closed them a few times. There is a door ajar sensor in the lock mechanism that gets corroded or dirty and causes this. Other suggest using electrical contact cleaner and spray the inside of the locks. This should clear up your problem. I used the WD-40 about 3 years ago and have not had the problem since. Good Luck.
