93 susuki katana 600cc. hard to start.

my 93 katana has a hard time starting. I checked the ignition coils and they read 15,000 ohms when they should be 20,000-30,000 according to specs. do you think that's the problem?

Re: 93 susuki katana 600cc. hard to start.

Another thing on these Katanas is the o-ring for the fuel selector knob. If the bike sits for a few days or more, the o-rings tend to leak and allow fuel into the carbs. while it sits and it basically floods it. If the coils aren't the problem, Id check that next.

As far as your coils go, once its running, does it run alright? Or does it have issues like like misfiring or hesitation or lack of power? Generally speaking, if the coils are weak, they are always weak and they would probably break up on the top end. Also, as it gets hotter it would probably wouldn't perform as well.

Another thing to check is the battery. If the battery is weak, not enough power will make it to the coils to fire them at start up as the starter is usuing up a lot of the juice as well as the headlight. Just a couple things to think about before you just slap new $80 a piece coils in there.
