04 Tundra lifters rattle

I have an 04 Tundra and pretty much am impressed with the truck. One complaint; the lifters rattle when I first crank up- sounds pretty bad on cold days. Is this normal for the Tundra's? I know all the newer model Z-71's have this problem.

Are you using a factory oil filter?

Re: 04 Tundra lifters rattle

I also believe that the oil filter plays a huge part in this happening. If oil is leaking by the check valve in the filter the initial start will be a little on the dry side causing the noise. I haven't made up my mind as to what filter I'm going to run on my 06 tundra but the purolator line has served me well in other applications. Here's the purolator applications search page http://www.pureoil.com/ProductFinder.aspx?action=AS.
