1997 Grand Am shuts off when warm

Hello All,

I recently purchased a 1997 grand am gt with 57000 miles with an intake manifold leak. I drove the car from the dealer and it ran fine. I put in a new head gasket set as well as the intake, etc. I put it back together and started it and it runs for three to five minutes and shuts down. It will not start for another couple of hours. I checked all electrical connections, vacuum lines, etc. I am stumped. It runs smooth and shuts as if I were turning off the ignition. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Jninew

Sounds like you may hav forgot something when you reassembled the engine.

A few things to look over would be your ignition system(plug & wires + the igniton/coil harness plugs), thiers several things that you had to disasemble when replacing those gaskets.

A vacum leak on the manifold, make sure all the bolts and nuts are tight and the vacum hoses are in good shape.

A low battery, or not making good connections.
Make sure its getting fuel, either the filter or the injectors harness could be the trouble.

Good Hunting !
