IN question of SKYLINE GTR preformance...?**?

........Ok guys since most of you..owns..(?) or knows about skylines..
I have a few question

..first is ( what is the biggest tire size can fit
on a r2/r33/34 without using wide bodykits?? )

....Sencond is ( what is the highest Gs recorded on a skyline gtr
in the 200ft skidpad??? "stock & tuned" )

...third is ( What are common problems on skyline such as maintianace
or any problems like tuning.." I heard something the computer controls
gets messed up..the active differentials dont work properly or somthing like that ..i also heard there is a lot of problem of r32 hydrolic ADC or
was it the 4 wheel drive system the HICAS of also r33......"?????? )

....Fourth is just my opinion ( do you think longer wheelbase on a skyline
such as the r33 preform better in handling or topspeed..than shorter wheelbase..?? )

Longer wheel base will be better for high speeds.

.95g on a 300ft stock

Moded I think I have seen a little over 1

Only probs that I have heard of is the tranny.

I've never had any problems with the actual engine or drivetrain....however, the internal electronics (as I believe you were suggesting have problems) I had pretty much everything fail within a year of each other....window switch, folding mirrors, rear window wiper, air conditioner temp reg, and the flow meters. Pretty much everything happened right after it hit the ten year mark.
No tranny problems ('cept it's a little stiff on cold mornings) or problems with AWD.
Oh....the car (even the new ones) will leak brake fluid if they sit for long periods of time without driving (2 months) but will seal again properly after a couple short drives.

We used to have a guy like this on Scoobynet!

Always thought he knew what he was on about, but in the end just drove people mad because of the pointless questions constantly being asked!!!

Tommykaira ZZII! What car do you drive, serioulsy???

Oh look, I have been reading a bit, and what have I found???

"but settled down wid my civic.
which soon is goin to hit high 10s or low 11s wid a turbo upgrade
soon.. "

We have a phrase here in England!

It goes "What a load of bollocks!!!"

Have you ever been up a drag strip?

Do you have any pics of your highly modified fast RX7?

Hey Guiddy,

Is that a pic of your car? Very Nice How many km do you have on it. I had a VTEC Integra, very revvy engine, loved getting into those extra valves and hearing the pitch of the engine change.

Yeah...that's a nice car Guiddy.

Tommi : biggest tyres for the 33 is 275. I am now using a set of 275/35/18. Do not know whether a 19 wheel would fit. Haven't seen one on a GTR though.

Highest G? No, GTRs don't wear G string! They also do not have G spot, if they do, I have not found the spot yet!

Common problem: my 33 is so good there is almost no problem at all. The gear fluid leaks a bit after track duty when I used the stock shifter (apparently the seal is not good). After changing to C's short shifter, the problem's gone.
Hicass/Attessa/electronics - no problem whatsoever. (my car is 6 years old).
Other normal problems? YES. SOME JACKASS IN HONDA CIVIC/BMW/PORSCHE/FERRARI WHO THINK THEIR CAR IS SO DAMN FAST WOULD ALWAYS TAILGATE MY GTR ALTHOUGH I AM IN NO MOOD TO DRIVE FAST. THIS IS ANNOYING!

Handling : R33 is the longest of the 3 models. The 32 handles better. Top speed? Don't know.

knight style bodykit/koni shocks/eibach springs/RH rims c5..it was
all my brother and freinds who hooked it up...cuz i dont know anything
about rotaries...but it had 69K miles on it and i was later goin to college.i sold it...so now im planning to turbocharge my civc
a t4 garret should put out aleast 400hp or 500hp to get me 10s is my

Yeah, It's mine. The pic is a little old now, as the car has been lowered more since and it has a few cosmetic changes.

The engine is at this moment stock, but sounds great when it gets to 8000 rpm! I have ordered a Trust Airnx Induction kit from Japan, which should be here next week.
She has 61,000 miles on her now, it's a 1997 car.

I want to spend a bit of money on the engine now, but unlike others on this site, I will always be aware of what it can and can't do!

BTW, Tommy, what kind of turbo does you RX-7 have? Just wonderin'...

the reason i asked these question is becuase it relates to handling preformance.....I was asking the largest tire size in width not rims/ diameter..

the latest i readed about skyline was in ssc mag ...when a R33 registered
9.6g with nismo 18x10 275/18 and the Blackbird R34 only 9.5 with the same tire size as R33...

I want to know if there is any skylines making 1.0g or over..??

I have been searching around websites the biggest i seen yet used
was the yellow vielside R32 wearing a 315s on the rear but with wide bodykit.

Its cause my cousin friend supra runs 1.10gs on the skidpad wearing
275/17 in front..315/17 in rear ..with tuned sport suspension(i dont know
what kind his using)..

Also the problems of HICAS 4 wheel steering...it usaully accurs in racing when handling become a is important..so they usually lock up the HICAS.. Like the Rhsy Millen UPRD R33 this problem accured when he
was racing on pikespeaks stock class...The R33 handling became dangerous..so he lock the HICAS. He also had problems with the trans..

I was wondering if that occurs more offen in skylines?
also if the HICAS is locked how does it affect daily drivin or its behavior?

And one more thing..I was reading my old mag...About a guy in Hongkong brought is skyline to the states..Blew his motor..cause
of a faulty fuel pump..it was basically a stock GTR..so he had to bore about 1mm then replaced then scorched piston with a nismo..and mostly everything was replaced.

I was wonder if that also occurs to other R32`s so, when you get a
a r32 you have to replace the fuel pump immediatly...???

Tommi, in your earlier post you mentioned ADC - what's that? Or do u mean ACD -active centre diff like the one on the evo7. If u meant acd - well the gtr don't come with one. U can however fit one - like my HKS ETC.
Problem with HICAS & fuel pump? As far as a daily driver gtr is concerned, I have not heard of that! If u consider a one-off incident as normal, then I have nothin' to say.
Even on my gtr, which I trash around the track and also drive it to work almost daily, no problem with the HICAS or the fuel pump. The secret is to maintain the car properly. Ensure all the fluids are in good condition and always sufficient. GTRs need to be treated with respect - just like any other performance car. Don't expect to trash it around without getting to know it and taking care of its needs. In real world, treat it as you will your pretty girlfriend! Then, she will reward u well and u will never have to look any other way no more.
