If you are asking why a 5-spd s faster.. well first if you look at the size of a Manual transmission and Automatic, the automatic is much bigger, therefore it wieghs MUCH more, and second, a manual has 5 gears, and a automatic only has 4 gears, so by the time an auto. reaches the 4th gear, and it can't go any faster, the 5 speed stil has more room to go. Also, since you are the one doing all the work, you have a tendancy to stay in the lower gears longer longer than a auto. does, bc the lower gears have more power therefor pulling you off faster the longer you stay in them, with the automatic, you are up against perfect timing, it shifts at exactly the same time, so you dont have that option of staying in the lower gears longer. That is why most auto.'s have an overdrive button. With the overdrive set to off, it takes away the 4th gear, leaving you with only three. There for giving the car more power... but anyway... there you go.
