Can anyone point me in the right direction? This is worst than taking my SAT.
I need to program a remote that was purchased on eBay for a 2004 Hyundai Elantra. The company that I purchase it from doesn't have programming instructions.

Re: Need programming instructions for keyless entry remote - 2004 Elantra
Well, I poked around at the HMAservice site, and as far as I can tell you need a programming tool to be able to do it. The document I found references the 2001 Elantra, but I assume it means 2001 and up. I'm not 100% sure, that's just what I was able to find. Check with a local Hyundai dealer to find out for sure.

Re: Need programming instructions for keyless entry remote - 2004 Elantra
I am 100% sure: the dealer HAS to do it. 2001-2003 were owner-programmable; 2004-2006 require the hi-scan tool with keyless adapter that only the dealer has.
It's a ten minute job but they will probably charge you a half hour of labor at least. One particularly wiley owner I know went in and said the remote "just stopped working". Since his car was still under the 5 year, 60,000 mile warranty, the dealer programmed it for free as a warranty fix. If your car has less than 60,000 miles on it, you may want to try that angle. |
