3000gt timing belt change

i have a 98 3000gt sohc and im about to change my timing belt but need instructions on how to do it myself..i have a qualifed person helping me who has done one before on a simular car ( eclipse )..anyone ever done it before or no a web site that gives detailed instructions..i have a cd rom repair manual but didnt specify the sohc motor..any help would be appreciated

all those links describe the timing belt change for a DOHC motor. you have a SOHC motor, so it should be pretty simple since you only have 2 camshafts to deal with.

i've only done timing belt changes on DOHC motors, but it should be the same for all. the basic rundown is this: IF YOUR CAR IS OUT OF TIME: look for timing marks on the cam gears AND the valve covers. you'll need to line up the cam gear marks with the valve cover marks. find the timing mark on the crank pulley and line it up with the timing mark on the block, just behind the pulley. pull the old belt off, put new belt on. make sure all timing marks are lined up. use binder clips to hold the belt in place on the cam gears. set the tensioner, and you're done.
