Question Repainting interior

Hi . I wonder if anybody has ever repainted their seats .
My old beemer has brown fake leather seats . I would like them
to be dark blue. The only sollution I found so far would be to respray them with Motip vinyl paint. Before I consider this I would like to know if this is a good solution. I don't want the paint to come off or get liquid again when there' s hot weather.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I honestly don't think it would be. I can see the paint cracking after a while.

repainting interior

The guys on the Allante board (www.allantenet.org) highly recommend a product called Leather Magic for redying leather seats. (www.leathermagic.com).

Its water-based and can be sprayed or brushed on. You can use it to update your original color, or to change the color.

I haven't (yet) used it myself, but several others have and all seem to have had good results.

As with any operation like this, I suspect proper preparation of the surface is the key to good results.

interior painting

Hi, I am a 25 year auto upholsterer. If you must paint, prep well. take out seats. take a floor scrub brush and a good cleaner such as 409 or mr clean and apply generously and scrub well then do it again. It wont hurt anything and all oil[finger and hands give off oils] must be gone. there are adhesion promoters available from Marhyde or Sems that help the new color bond. Sems offers a flexable bonding clear that works pretty good. applythat first. it does something to the vinyl and promotes adhesion of the new color. about 15 minutes after that the color is applied . dont try to cover the surface in one coat. I'd do abot 3-4 coats until the old color is gone. I f you put armor -all on you wont be able to touch up if a little wear shows up later. Thats real nasty stuff and has an oily reside which wont accept paint . It will fish-eye. If you spray on paint and it looks splotchy its some previous application of shine-ola like armorall on the material and has to removed with an ammonia based product .. scrub -scrub...hope this helps

Thanks for the advice guys !
When I'm finished I'll put some pics online.

I want my car to be resprayed in silver-grey with red tail-/indicatorlights.
Only problem is that a light brown interior doesn't suit this outfit.
Now I can alter this
