`70 Chevelle SS454 Street Machine Progress

This is another Chev of mine which is nearly done, colour is gunmetal grey and will have pearl clear. The interior is flat and semi gloss black with the kits roll bar, steering wheel from R-M 37 Ford Coupe and some buckets and shifter I had lying around. It doesnt look so good in the direct sunlight but the transfers are from a R-M 59 Impala custom, just pretend they are embroided logos
Wheels are from R-M California wheels 59 Corvette with some old WRC brakes on the back and 335mm drilled/ventilated resins on the front. Intake is a resin highrise with twin 1050 resin 4-barrel carbs. The rest of the kit is pretty much stock, engine will be wired and will have braided fuel lines and radiator hose. I did the final coat of colour on it about 30 minutes before the photo of the quarter panel and before I put the clear on I'm undecided on wether or not I should put the white SS stripes on it, please comment for that so I can clearcoat the body.

I'll have some final progress and the finished photos IN THIS THREAD. Thanks for looking.

Nice colour looks really good. i would put the black SS stipes on it. Which kit is this? I tried to build the amt kit but couldnt get the grille/headlight assembly to gfit. Now I bought the revell 3n1 kit looks way better.. Upon closer looks I see it is the revell kit. I cant wait to see this one complete, should look great

To get he headlight assembly to fit properly in the AMT '70 Chevelle, you must remove some material from the headlight openings before installation. I would do it before painting and make it a little larger than needed to allow for paint buildup.

Re: `70 Chevelle SS454 Street Machine Progress

Just a quick update, the stripes were a no go, the decal split I guess thats one of the disadvantages of a kit molded in the late 80s.
The body is now smothered with pearl clear and it looks the goods, at least I think so. I'll post up some photos when I do the BMF work. Cheers

Yeah too bad about the stripes, that would have really worked on this body style. I like the engine and look forward to more progress shots here.

Re: `70 Chevelle SS454 Street Machine Progress

Well I couldnt be bothered to wait for the body to cure properly so I cleared it yesterday afternoon and BMFed it that night, the whole body needs a polish, its shiny but its that 'dull' type of shiny (paint doesnt look deep and wet). There's hardly any dust in it but something has bleached the clear a little on an edge of the bonnet, should polish out. Anyway its my bday today so I wont be doinganything today/tomorrow modelwise, but the next progress for this will be the final, and I'll take completed photos of this and my C1 vette at the same time. Anyway thanks for looking hope you like.

Re: `70 Chevelle SS454 Street Machine Progress

Very sorry for the lack of progress, I'm sitting down with this and my C1 tonight to finish them both up, the only thing I won't be able to do is complete the Chevelles wiring and polish them both, again real sorry but I had a few days of unexpected partying for my 19th bday, simply put I've been too drunk or at other places to be able to finish these.
I WILL post final progress tomorrow, thankyou.
