03 no start

I have a 2003 Cav with the 2.2 ecotec, automatic trans, no elaborate accessories, just what comes on the base model.

Over the past month, I've had a no-start problem a couple of times that makes me wonder if it's the anti-theft system. Get in the car, turn the key, and nothing happens. Dash lights come on, the panel lights go through the self test, then it won't start. Just like it has a dead battery. The engine doesn't turn over, it doesn't even respond to the ignition switch.

On a hunch, the first time it did this, I got out and pulled the IGN, BATT1, and BATT2 fuses in the underhood fuse box, put them back in, and the car started up like nothing was ever wrong. It starts fine if I do this each time it has happened.

If this is the anti-theft system, then it is ridiculously easy to bypass, but I'm thinking it's something else. Oh, yeah, I'm using the original factory key, not a duplicate.

Any thoughts?

Re: 03 no start

If it is, then it's a sorry ass excuse for an anti theft system, if all I have to do to bypass it is yank a couple of fuses out and put them back in.

No one else has seen this problem before?

Thanks, jake.
