93 Blazer fluid question

I just bought this 93 Blazer. It has 103k miles. I do not know the history of the fluid changes. I want to drop the pan on the tranny and change the filter. I also want to change the differentials and transfer case fluid with synthetic. What does everyone think about the synthetic fluids? Rich...

Re: 93 Blazer fluid question

Very important not knowing the history of the trans fluid changes, check and make sure that the fluid isn't badly burnt. Some times when the interval is too long it will actually give you major problems when you introduce new atf. Also a bad idea to use synthetic fluids in any engine or trans that has more than 30,000 miles on it. It will get into all the areas and do its job too well and can cause you problems and especially create new leaks. Go ahead and put it in your transfer case and diffs.
