I have a 2001 Grand Am GT that I have pulled the tranny pan and replaced the filter. I took out about 2 gallons of fluid in doing so... and I have now put 2 gallons back in. How do I know when it's full?
Should I see fluid at the fill cap? Or is the check plug on the side of the tranny the indicator? Thank for any help, |

Re: 2001 GA GT Amount of Tranny Fluid?
2 gallons !?!
Just with a F & F change its 7 quarts. Dry with converter it 13.5 or so. To check it you hav to hav it on a lift level and thiers a check plug on the back side of the transmission. facing the rear of the car.

Re: 2001 GA GT Amount of Tranny Fluid?
What brand Dextron-III ATF are you using Xero. I'm getting ready to do the 50K tranny service on the Alero (41K miles) in the near future. Normally I use regular Castrol in all of mine. Anyone using synthetic?
