Instrument panel "glass"

I think I really screwed up this time....I was using Amourall on the dash board and got some on the plexiglass that covers the instruments. Not the glass is greyish and looks like shite. Does any one have suggestions to how I can either change the glass or clean the goop off. It is dried into a haze....

Using ArmorAll was your first mistake.

I use a feather duster to clean dust off my instrument panel. It doesn't scratch. I think I started a thread about this and some others had good alternatives.

Regarding the hazing. there are some plastic polishers available. I guess I would try water first, then water and vinager, then maybe go for the polisher.

Most vinyl cleaners make a haze on glass, but glass cleaner removes that. Just don't know about the plastic. Start mild, then work up.

The plastic instrument pannel and headlight lenses on my 5.0 were all scratched and horible looking. I used some goop call "Fritz" metal polish (I think it is called Fritz, Brent knows about it, he'll correct me if I'm wrong). Anyways, the goop is applied just like wax. Smear it on, rub it around, and let dry to a haze. After it has dried just buff it off. IIRC it is a polymer that gets into all the cracks, then dries optically clear.

It did a wonderful job on my stang, the headlight lenses and instrument panel looked like new.

Thanks for the advise BUT, I used Amorall on my glass which seems to have penetrated the plexi flass..it has left a gray haze that not appear impossible to remove.

I could buy a new cover but i am too cheap......

That plastic doesnt clean too easy... Mine is splattered with dried Coke. I made some attempt at cleaning and then just learned to live with it. I might try some polish though......

did you try pure vinager in a spray bottle??? that always seems to work for my windows and getting gunk off of headlights (tar bugs ARMORALL)

I did the same GD thing!!! I emailed armorall to complain and this is part of what they said:

Clear plastics are sensitive surfaces that can easily be damaged by
cleaners. However, it is possible that you can restore your instrument
panel using Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Professional Plastic Cleaner #17 and

to find these products at your local hardware store or at a number of mass
merchandise outlets. The success of this restoration depends upon the
overall condition of the clear plastic prior to damage. You may also

So I finally tried the meguiar's Mirror Glaze products (I had to mail order them) to clean up my armorall stained instrument 'glass' and it worked quite well at removing the stains. I had to clean (with #17) then polish (with #10) a couple of times to get it completely clean, but overall I am very satisfied with the results.
