1989 Chevy S10 / GMC S15 Modified!
Ok,
I've come looking for some good info. Well, this truck started its life out as a 4.3 ltr 4x4 longbed, its now bearing a 3" bodylift, 6" suspesion lift and 33 x 12.50 tires. And heres my problem," I just bought the truck out from a friend that has also been building this truck up." The front driveshaft will NOT clear the transmission frame rail. The front differential was dropped down almost 5" from its factory location with the suspension lift it has. I've got a custom made driveshaft that makes the extended reach. " I have a front driveshaft from a 88 Chevy S10 blazer 4.3ltr thats too short, almost by 5 inches" So has anyone else ever encountered this when modifying a S10 this far? Heres a image of the truck last month prior to me replacing the front fenders.

Re: 1989 Chevy S10 / GMC S15 Modified!
I'm not at that stage yet, and I might not encounter the problem since I'm switching t-cases at the same time.
However I recently saw a small Blazer where they chopped the transmission cross member and modified it. I didn't know why at the time, but since it was also somewhere around a 5" lift it was probably for the same reason. Your best bet is join this forum and ask there *Link removed by Moderator* |

Re: 1989 Chevy S10 / GMC S15 Modified!
A few years back i saw an episode of shadetree mechanic where they lifted an S10. The transfer case needs to be lowered down and the crossmember lowered to clear everything properly and i think there are kits available for it.
........hope the info helps |
