S-10 are easy to steal?

I have a 91 s-10 faded paint, 3 different colors and somebody stole my truck. I just put in a new long block in it, new tires and a decent stereo, nothing to fancy.
Woke up by the door bell and the cops ask where my truck was and I said in back and what do you know some punk ass people stole it.
Luckly it ran out of gas 6 miles down the road.
The broke the steering column and stole the $50.00 radio.
Steering column from a junk rard $38.00, new ignition ket set, $10.00, going back to stock radio, $0.00, blinking red LED from radio shack, $3.95.

Wanting to catch the punks that stole it in the first place and kick their ass, priceless.

I ask the cops why they did not steal my 00 Toyota Camary with unlocked doors is because the s-10 are easy to steal.

Re: S-10 are easy to steal?

Well, the natural assumption nowadays I would believe is to look at the Camry and think--hmm, bet that car has an alarm that will go off and wake someone up--so they probably just ignored it and went onto the S10 that they are sure doesn't have an alarm, and know someone may not put as much effort into finding since it is not worth near what a 2000 Camry is worth.

I don't see any reason why an S10 would just be "easy" to steal.

Re: S-10 are easy to steal?

Theives here usually don't get 8 days, just a slap on the wrist.
All due to the courts

Personally I think that the cops here should call the victom up and ask if they want to bring a bat over while they're doing the paper work

Re: S-10 are easy to steal?

The 1994-7 have two magnets in the ignition switch. If the wrong key is put in,the two magnets will not line up.The keys have a computer chip inside the key.Ford claims their newer,2000 and up vhicles are hard to steal. They are wrong,my father knows someone that has their own autosalvage yard and has three of them with no keys, stolen and recovered, bought from an autosalvage auction

Angry Re: S-10 are easy to steal?

Sorry to hear about your truck getting ripped-off. Probably a couple of crackheads looking for a quick buck for their next fix.
I can see why someone would say they are easy to steal. The ignition switch on my '91 S10 just flat broke on me one day. The bad part was, it broke with the engine running and I couldn't shut the engine off. I had to pop the hood and pull the coil wire off to kill the engine!
Changing the switch was fairly easy but, the column broke shortly after that. It was a pretty good truck, otherwise.

Did you leave the keys in the ignition? If so, just about any vehicle is easy to still. If not, don't worry about it.
