performance upgrades

What is the best upgrade for the money in the 3.5 maxima? The more opnions the better. Is a chip worth it? Has anyone used one and noticed a difference? Thank you for the replies.

Re: performance upgrades

There is no performance chip for the Maxima, the best performance upgrade are going to be headers. Two companies make them for the Maxima; Hotshot, and Cattman. You'll see close to 30whp with the headers alone. Next should be an Intake and a catback, lightweight pully, advance timing, total should net you about 45whp, go to www.redlinemax.com

Re: performance upgrades

definitely get your timing advanced, especially if you run 93 octane, best bang for your buck since most dealerships do it for free(mine did). then like Kro$s said, the headers and full exhaust are the best power mods.

Technosquare makes piggybacks ECU's that are supposedly really good, they exetend your redline to 7200rpm, advance the timing to 18 degrees BTDC( i think) and make it so your throttle body stays open at full throttle, unlike stock where it closes 20% at WOT.

IMO your best bet is to upgrade springs and struts, the 3.5 maxima's are pretty fast stock, but they have a lot of body roll and handle kinda like a boat.
