Tapping noise

we changed the starter on it and it ran fine the first time we started it up..... let it run for a min..... we changed the trans gasket and filter since the trans pan was leaking and changed the oil...... i put 5 qts on atf + 3 and 5 qts of 10w 40 high mileage oil ... the truck has 127,000 miles on it after we started it again there was a tapping type noise coming from the driverside near where the starter is..... the trans was still low... so i added 3qts and it was full..... after i added the 6th qt of atf + 3 the noise went away.....and as you know the dodges have to be in N to check the trans fluid.... so when i was done topping off the trans i went to put the truck in park and the noise came back after it went in park..... the noise is only there when its in park.... if you put it in any other gear.... it goes away any thoughts i bought this truck not running and took a chance.... didnt pay much for it so we thought the noise was the starter hitting the flywheel but it cant be if it goes away in any other gear other than P.... maybe the converter bolts but you think it would make a noise when the trans had a load on it
