Hello All,
This might be a dumb question but i just dont know, my jimmy is sick , i am pretty positive that the slave cylinder for the trans mission is eityher stuck or leaking so there is air in the line and the clutch pedal has no pressure and it is not lifthing the clutch disk from the tranny there fore i cant put it in gear and i cant drive it. I am probably gonna buy the part next week so that i may be able to fix it on the first week end in august, my question is i am thinking about towing it using my fathers truck and a two wheel dolly, do i need to disconect the drive shaft for a 300 mile trip or should i just leave it as is and drive the distance, it is not that far that i have to tow it and since it is a 2wd manual i think i can just leave it in neutral , am i correct?thanks

Re: Tow Dolly
No, you lift up the rear wheels and tow it that way.

Re: Tow Dolly
With a 2WD manual trans, put it in neutral and you're good to go, or like LT said, put the rears on the dolly.

2wd: Tow by the rear wheels. 4wd: Flat bed only.

Re: Tow Dolly
well i got it moved, was able to do it with a full trailer so i did not have to do anything but winch it on the trailer, but now i need to fix it...Does anyone know what would cause the a functional clutch to stop working in a matter of 3 days, the car was driving fine then all of the sudden i had the clucth all the way down and there was no presurre in the pedal, and finally the clutch gave up and he pedal was completely loose

Re: Tow Dolly
Clutch slave or master cylinder. It could have air in the system but I believe you said it was leaking. If you replace the slave and master cylinder be sure to check your line that goes between them. Some are metal some are rubber. If it is rubber replace it too but replace it back with rubber because sometimes you get in a deal with the ends mathing up on the metal and rubber lines. It going to take you about a two bottles of brake fluide to bleed the air out. That's the small bottles but I buy the big bottles because I have a lot of things to keep up. Just when you think you have all the air out drive it a day or two and if it starts grinding some bleed it again and that should have it.
