Bad news right before college....
well, I have been away for awhile... I have been installing parts and working and what not, so little time, update: I have sportline suspenion blah blah, and megan DP with thermal racing cat back, and naturally, a test pipe. also got new rims, just stockers that are painted gunmetal. after the exhaust was installed, 2 days or so, I heard this terriable rattling noise.... well.... I thought it was the exhaust hitting something, so I put it on everysingle braket, still made the noise.
It only made this loud rattiling noise when it started and when I slowed down and it was reving under 1k..... Well, Out of the 4 DSMS in a 2 house radius, 0 are running, thats right ZERO.... Ted's car ran it was all finished after the rebuild... guess what happend? Crank walk... yes crank walk.... EZ is putting a stroker kit in his 2g, and his 1G still is stripped of all engine componets and aftermarket stuff excluding the block. Then there is mine... Drained the oil... no shaivings...... took the oil filter off and a moderate amount of copper and aluminum shavings in the paper crap..... This means I have a couple of spun bearings, or just one, or a bent rod, or bent rods.... hopefully no crank damage, let me restate that. I HOPE THERE IS NO CRANK DAMAGE. but knowing my luck, Everything needs to get replaced, Tonight I'll have some pics.... I get to take the xcase, exhaust, and oil pan off tonight... great fun huh? I really hope I didn't do any rod damage, I hope it is just a case of the people who rebuilt my engine using bad quiality bearings, and hopefully I can just replace those. I HOPEE!!! lol.. Oh and the best part, I have 2.5 weeks to figure this out... and get rides to work... or who knows what is going to happen to my car. update toinght |

Re: Bad news right before college....
are those brand new? or something, I can't put used shit in my car lol I just drained the oil pan again and filtered it with a paint filter..... I bet you I could make a mound about 1x.5x.5 inch tall of copper and aluminum shavings, it isn't getting any better... I think I might need a new xcase 2, there is oil on the exhaust and spray I think... update later again

Re: Bad news right before college....
No, they are used... Just thought it would help though if you needed quick parts. I also have an extra 1g tcase laying in the garage too. lol
![]() If I sold half the extra parts I have laying around then I could probably have my car running by now. lol

Re: Bad news right before college....
fucking double posts, the disassembly has been going smoothly, But I have a feeling im going to punch a rabbit if I see that more than the bearings are damagaed, There has been an intresting conversation between me and EZ, What if the 390's caused the damage? I mean it is full possible right? but I never and I mean never drove my car hard.... well I floored it in park once up to 8500 lolololol that is actually what might have done this, it hit fuel cut that is why I stopped lololo, I fucking suck..... ok people.... I need parts list...
MAKE SUGGESTIONS Assuming there is no crank or rod damage..... Bearings... what type? DSMLINK 880's DKS CAMS Timing belt PS belt Altenator BELT Intercooler Piping 1G NT TB ELBOW 2 2.5-3" reducers Undercoating... (for harsh mich winters) RTV for oil pan (black?) TB GASKET TB ELBOW GASKET New plugs New plug wires (what kind) Slim fan (which brand is cheapest and flows well) EDIT: Asuming there is xcase problems, when removed is there seals that I should replace or something? Will update when further damage has been realized........ Please help if you have anything like this.... thanks |

Re: Bad news right before college....
Clevite 77 bearings all the way man. As for the DKS cams, I donno if I would trust em or not just because they are not that big of a name yet. I went with the FP Comp cams. Magnacore wires are a really good replacement wire for our cars. You can order some slim line fans from summit and they are cheaper than buying those ones built into a shroud. The ones I'm talking about are like 12" fans that you buy in singles and then they mount threw your radiator. Very good quality I think for the price.

Re: Bad news right before college....
it was a joke? lol I like to make numbers bigger than they really were, I usually stop touching the gas when I see smoke.... Smoke usually comes out at 4-5k .... I can see smoke because My exhaust came out under my door for a period of time.... Ask ez If I ever took my car over 6K, I knew it was underfueled, thus, never drove hard, I needed time and money, But now that I have no time, money really isn't an object

Re: Bad news right before college....
Oh I only need one fan, No A/C, there what, like 100 bucks? is there like a a website for the bearings? ( no time to search need to strip car) I'll go with the DKS, because the guy that owns FFWD is a really cool guy and knows his shit, and gives a year warranty on shit. These will be my last engine upgrades, so should I have oem Timing shit? or go kevlar?

Re: Bad news right before college....
Yes, mexrocket running those 390's probably fucked it up. Maybe not the reason for rod knock, but still. That means that you were getting roughly 87% of the fuel you needed. If I were good, I could tell you how much you leaned out by doing that, but I dont know the stock afr.
