Squeaky Brakes
Hey all,
As some of you know I installed cross drilled and slotted rotors and new pads all around. Now, they're squeaking. My boy told me to takem apart and pretty much soak the pads in grease. The brackets and the little metal pieces. Would this work? The front driverside is also clicking again. I was told that that rotor was shot, and that replacing it would stop the clicking while braking. It did, but it's slowly coming back again. Everything is torqued to spec. Any ideas on what it is? PS... Don't buy Duralast. They suck ass.

Some of the life time brakes are hard and dont wear very eaily. I had a set that always squeaked. However I wouldn't soak them in grease. You would have to buy new pads after that. Even in the installation manual it says not to get grease on them.
What type of pads did you get? I just put raybestus Quiet Stops on my car and I have never NEVER been happier with they way they work. They are amazing! Also you may have to brake them in. It will take at least 500 miles to do that.

I used Duralast. They've got over 1000 miles on them already. It gets worse with more miles. Should I have put more glue on the backs of them and the brackets?

first off never use any petrolumin products on breaks, it will dissolve the material. Before you installed the rotors did you clean them with brake cleaner to remove the coating? You only need enough glue to make the shims stick. the squeeking could be caused by sliding points that arent lubed enough, glazed brake pads, humidity, hardened rotors, or the "squeeler" but probably not since they are low milage. My bet is glazed rotors or pads.

So spray them with brake cleaner? I think I did that and it didnt work.
